Description
No. 43 High Street is a shop and dwelling that features an 18th-century front with a core dating back to the 16th or 17th century, along with later alterations. The building is constructed of stucco and has a steep-pitched slate roof. It stands three storeys tall with a cellar and has a single-window range. The front includes an 18th-century or earlier mullion and transom window with a central casement, positioned under a boarded jetty. There is a similar window with a modillioned head at the eaves. The late 19th-century shop front features a glazed door and overlight to the left, a plate-glass window in a moulded case, and a deep jetty with a plastered soffit. On the right side, there is a blocked opening leading to a stucco gable. The rear of the building is plastered and includes an early 18th-century 6/6 sash window under the jetty and a 6-pane light at the eaves. Inside, there is an exposed ceiling beam and a winder stair.
