Description
No. 45 High Street is a shop and dwelling that dates back to the early 17th century, with extensions from the 18th century and later alterations. The building features a timber-frame structure with plaster and a slate roof. It has three storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with a single-window range. The 18th-century windows include an 8/8 sash in a moulded case under a jetty with exposed soffits, and a 4/8 sash in a moulded case beneath a moulded plate at the eaves, along with spurred quarter-bracing.
The early 20th-century shop front includes a half-glazed panelled door on the left, panelled stall-boards, a canted return on the right, and a deep fascia-board. The right side of the building has a rendered ground floor beneath a boarded jetty, with a jetty on the first floor supported by enriched consoles. The twin gables above feature spurred quarter-bracing over shallow jetties.
At the rear, the building has an extended 18th-century section with stick framing and plaster under a slate roof, featuring a shallow jetty on the second floor. There are early 20th-century double doors with an overlight on the left, and a 20th-century half-glazed door with an overlight and sidelights. The interior has not been inspected.
