Description
No. 7 Broad Street is a shop and dwelling dating from the early 17th century. It features a timber-frame and plaster construction with a hipped slate roof and a brick stack at the rear. The building stands three storeys tall with a cellar and has a one-window range. The front includes a 19th-century canted oriel window with a coved underhang, and late 19th-century sashes in a 2/2, 8/8, and 2/2 configuration. The lighter studding on the second floor indicates an altered roof pitch, which also has late 19th-century 6/6 sashes. The entrance is located to the left and features a 19th-century six-panel door, with the upper two panels being glazed. This door leads to a half-glazed two-panel door for the dwelling and a canted half-glazed door for the shop. To the right, there is a shop window with moulded glazing shafts and surround, supported under a deep overhang on cast-iron columns, with the soffits visible. The lath and plaster from the front was removed in 1932.
