Description
No. 18 Drapers Lane is a shop and dwelling that features a late 18th-century front with a 17th-century core, along with later alterations. The building is constructed of painted brick and has a plain tile roof. It stands three storeys high and includes a cellar, with a single-window range consisting of an 8/8 sash window in a moulded case under a segmental arch, and a 4/4 sash window also under a segmental arch. There is a brick band at the eaves.
The early 20th-century shop front has a half-glazed panelled door on the left and a window with glazing shafts. It is adorned with a moulded and modillioned fascia-board and hood, supported by plain pilasters. The left side of the building features a deep jetty that is underbuilt at the front, with a moulded bressumer resting on cusped brackets, and a plank door. At the rear, there is a wing with a sliding sash window that has vertical glazing bars, situated above a late 19th-century 3/3 sash window in a moulded case. The 17th-century timber-framing at the rear is noted as being mutilated.
The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to contain a chamfered ceiling frame.
