Description

Shops and dwellings dating from the 17th century or earlier, with later alterations, are located on Draper’s Lane in Leominster. The building is timber-framed and plaster-clad with a plain tile roof. It is two storeys high, with an attic and cellar, and has a two-window front. The windows are 19th-century 2/2 sash windows in moulded surrounds. Two restored 17th-century gable-dormers are on the left side. A 19th-century shop front occupies the ground floor, featuring central entrances. To the right is a 20th-century half-glazed door with a plain overlight and a window. To the left is a half-glazed panelled door with an overlight, and a slender-glazed window with chamfered shafts. There is plaster coving to the hood with a slate pentice-roof. The right-hand returned side has a deep jetty with an exposed dragon-beam and soffits, which appears to be underbuilt in the 18th century. Large panels of exposed wattle and plaster remain, alongside a lath and plaster blocked opening with a chamfered ogee-head. The rear elevation features brick infill within the gable, two 19th-century casements, and various fixed lights. A timber-framed and plaster-clad outshut, under a plain tile roof, is attached to number 22. The interiors have not been inspected.
