Description
9 and 11 Drapers Lane is a shop and dwelling, now used as shops, dating from the earlier 17th century with later alterations. The building features a timber-frame and plaster construction, topped with a plain tile roof that has twin gables facing the street. It has two storeys and an attic, with a two-window range. The windows are 20th-century 2/2 sashes set in moulded cases, within post and pan framing. A moulded bressumer rests on curved brackets, and there is a moulded three-light mullion under a simple hood on the left gable, while the right gable has a 20th-century mullion. The barge-boards are also from the 20th century and feature turned pendant finials. To the left, there is a 20th-century shop window, and to the right, a late 19th-century shop front with half-glazed double doors and a small overlight, along with a window that has slender glazing bars and chamfered shafts, supported by a deep hood on brackets. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to contain a stop-chamfered ceiling frame.
