Description
No. 20 High Street is a shop and dwelling that dates back to the 17th century, with some later alterations. The building features a timber-frame structure with plaster and a Welsh slate roof that has twin gables facing the street. It stands three storeys tall and has a two-window range. The late 19th-century bays have moulded bars and are set in post and pan framing, supported by a bressumer on scrolled consoles. The windows have moulded mullions and cases, and are set within chevron-braced panels. The gables also feature a moulded bressumer with spurred braces, and the barge-boards are modillioned with pendant finials. To the left, there are early 20th-century panelled double doors with a margin-glazed overlight, and a 20th-century shop front that includes a moulded and modillioned fascia-board above an earlier hood, which is supported by stop-consoles on panelled pilasters. A jowled frame post in the valley is dated 1673, although this date is uncertain. The interior has not been inspected.
