28, High Street

No. 28 High Street is a shop and dwelling with a front dating from the 18th century, built onto an earlier core and featuring later alterations. The building is constructed of painted brick and has a steep pitched roof covered in Welsh slate, with a brick stack at one end. It stands three storeys high and has a two-window range, with 6/6 sash windows set in moulded cases beneath gauged brick flat arches that have stucco keyblocks on the first and second floors. There are storey bands and moulded wooden eaves. The shop front, which dates from the 19th century, includes central half-glazed double doors that are recessed between plate-glass windows with clerestory lights, all beneath a moulded fascia-board and hood supported by stop-consoles on plain pilasters, along with panelled stall-risers. The left side of the building features a weatherboarded gable. The interior has not been inspected.
