Description
No. 10 Castle Street is a shop and dwelling dating from the 18th century. The building is finished in stucco and features a shallow pitched Welsh slate roof with brick end stacks. It stands three storeys high and has a four-window range, with 6/6 sash windows on the first and second floors. There is a storey band above the first and second floors and moulded wood eaves.
On the left side of the building, there is a rusticated elliptical arch with a key block. To the right, a 19th-century shopfront includes a central part-glazed panelled door with an ornamented overlight, recessed beneath a panelled soffit, and flanked by canted windows with glazing bars above panelled stall boards. A rusticated pilaster is located to the right of the shopfront, with enriched consoles supporting a flat hood.
At the rear, there are 18th-century twin gabled wings. The first floor features four 6/6 sash windows in moulded cases under segmental arches, with a storey band above. The gables are finished in 20th-century brickwork and also include 6/6 sash windows.
