Description
No. 26 High Street is a shop and dwelling that features an 18th-century front with a core that dates back to the 17th century or earlier, along with later alterations. The building is constructed of painted brick and has a parapet at the roof. It stands three storeys tall and has a two-window range. The 19th-century canted bays have moulded wood mullions and transoms, while the 20th-century windows are 4/4 sashes set in moulded cases beneath gauged brick flat arches. A moulded stone cornice runs along the parapet. The shop front has been altered in the 19th century, featuring cast-iron brackets and pillars between moulded pilasters, with an altered fascia-board and hood. There is an inserted 20th-century shop window and entrance in the canted return, along with a passageway leading to the rear. The interior has not been inspected.
