Description

No. 43 Yorkersgate, located in Malton, is a former part of the Talbot Hotel, now functioning as a hairdressing salon. This building dates back to the early 18th century and has undergone some alterations over time. It features coursed squared stone on a rendered plinth, with the left gable refaced in stone cladding. The roof is made of stone slate and has a coped left gable with a moulded kneeler, along with a stone-clad left end stack.

The building is two stories high and has a two-window front, with a pilaster strip at the right end and clasping pilaster strips on the gabled left return. The central door consists of raised-and-fielded panels with inset glazed panels, flanked by single-pane sash windows. The first-floor windows are 12-pane sashes, with the left window being blind. All windows are equipped with stone sills, and each opening features keyed flat arches made of voussoirs.

At the rear, there are 12-pane sash windows beneath keyed flat arches. A raised first-floor band is present but is decaying. On the left return, the building has two stories and two windows. The ground-floor windows, which have keyed flat arches of voussoirs, are now blocked. There is one 12-pane sash window to the right on the first floor, while the left window is blocked, with both openings having renewed lintels. The raised first-floor band is also visible on this side.
