Description
A terrace of three houses on Yorkersgate, dating from the late 18th century, with 20th-century alterations. The houses are constructed of coursed squared sandstone with a pantile roof, hipped at the right end, and gable copings to numbers 46 and 50. Each house has a brick stack on its left end. They have a cellar, two storeys, and an attic. The front has a six-window arrangement.
Number 46 has a raised-and-fielded panel door with two glazed panels, between a single-pane sash window to the right and a canted bay window with single-pane sashes to the left. Number 48 has a 20th-century door with a bracketed hood above, between a 12-pane sash to the right and a canted bay window with 12-pane sashes to the left. Number 50 has a 20th-century door with an overlight and grooved flat arch, to the right of a 16-pane sash with a wedge lintel. The first-floor windows are generally 12-pane sashes, with the exception of a single-pane sash at the right end and a 16-pane sash at the left end. All windows have stone sills, some of which are painted, and flat arches of voussoirs, except for those in the bay windows. Grilled openings provide access to the cellar at numbers 46 and 48. A three-light flat dormer is present on number 46, and two three-light raking dormers are on number 48. The right return features a two-storey, single-window front onto Market Street, with two single-pane sashes and painted stone sills, the ground-floor window having a wedge lintel.
