Description

This is an early 19th-century shop located on the south side of Oldgate, Morpeth. The building is constructed of brick in an English Garden Wall Bond pattern and has a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high and originally comprised three bays. The shop front on the ground floor was added in the late 19th century to the right two bays and is characterised by fluted pilasters and original enamelled tin advertising panels. The left bay retains a 12-pane sash window set in shallow reveals, with a stone sill and wedge lintel. A further 12-pane sash window is located above. The roof is hipped on the left side. The rear and right return were rebuilt in the later 19th century using brick. The building is included on the list for its group value.
