Description
Watson House is a mid-18th century brick house built in irregular English Garden Wall Bond, located on the south side of Oldgate in Morpeth. It features a tiled roof and stands three storeys tall with two broad bays. The central entrance has a six-panel door with an overlight set within a Tuscan surround. There are broad painted bands on each floor, originally intended as sill bands; however, the windows were lengthened in the 19th century, resulting in the sills now being positioned just below these bands. The windows are two-pane sashes with flat arches, and the right window on the first floor is an early 19th-century canted oriel, which includes 12- and 8-pane sashes. The roof is steeply pitched and has tumbled-in brickwork in the gables.
