Description
No. 13 South Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It dates from the late 18th century and has undergone some alterations since then. The building is made of painted brick and features a steep-pitched hipped roof covered with Welsh slate. There is a brick chimney stack on the right side.
The structure has three storeys and a cellar, with a three-window range showcasing 8/8 sash windows that are set under gauged brick flat arches. The glazing is from the 20th century and is painted to mimic the appearance of sashes. A moulded stone cornice runs along the top, leading to a stone-coped parapet.
The entrance is located on the left side and consists of a six-panel door that is recessed and framed by a shouldered moulded wood architrave. The late 19th-century shop front features a central glazed and panelled door with an overlight, flanked by canted plate-glass windows. This is topped with a moulded and modillioned fascia-board and hood. The interior has not been inspected. The building is part of a group with No. 15 South Street.
