Description

This building comprises two houses, now a shop, dwelling, and library annexe, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, though with earlier origins. The construction is primarily brick, with a Welsh slate roof and a brick end stack. The building is three storeys high and has a four-window front. The upper floors feature 6/6 sash windows with gauged brick flat arches. The ground floor has a mix of 3/3 sash windows (some 20th century replacements) under gauged brick flat arches and brick modillion eaves. A central pair of entrances feature 3-panel doors and ornamental overlights, recessed under a panelled soffit, with a moulded stucco pediment and frieze resting on paired consoles and corner pilasters. To the left, there are two 6/6 sash windows under gauged brick flat arches, and to the right, a restored 19th-century shop front includes a glazed and panelled door with overlight to the left and a window with moulded glazing bars and a moulded hood. Pilasters are present in brick. The interior has not been inspected.
