Description
Dutton House is a villa located on South Street in Leominster, originally a 16th-century house that underwent reconstruction in the late 19th century. The building features dressed stone and stucco, topped with a steep-pitched hipped Welsh slate roof adorned with crested ridge tiles. It has four gables on the north side and two on the west, along with two spurred composite stacks on the east and a brick lateral stack on the rear wing.
The front facing Etnam Street has two storeys and an attic, presenting a three-window range. The central cross-window is set under a hood moulding with figureheads, flanked by canted oriels that also have cross-windows and enriched underhangs, all beneath crenellated parapets. The gables feature four lancets with hood mouldings. The bargeboards are pierced and scalloped, topped with spike finials.
The central entrance boasts an ornate Gothic panelled door set under a chamfered four-centred arch, which has enriched spandrels and a hood moulding with figureheads. To either side of the entrance are stone mullion and transom windows, also under hood mouldings with figureheads. The right side of the building is rendered and has two tiers of cross-windows, three of which are blocked, all under hood mouldings with figureheads. The bargeboards on this side match those on the front, being pierced and scalloped with spike finials. The interior has not been inspected.
