Description

Bridge End is a villa dated 1864, with alterations from the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and has a Welsh slate roof with brick chimneys.

The symmetrical two-storey, three-window front features canted bay windows on the ground floor, each with stone surrounds, bracketed cornices, and blocking courses. A Gothic quatrefoil stone panel at the centre bears the inscription "AD1864." The first floor has paired windows over the bay windows with pointed arches, and a central window with a straight head; all are set within chamfered stone surrounds with alternate block jambs. The mansard roof has raised eaves over the side bays and a stone gutter cornice supported by long stone brackets, which sits atop a dogtooth brick cornice. A similar style is evident on the left return, with a bay window. The right return has a long first bay, featuring a Gothic "EC" relief monogram in a stone roundel, and a projecting right bay with single and triple windows. A projecting porch between the bays has a pointed arch leading to a half-glazed door within a stone surround, and a stepped stone parapet. Above the porch is a three-light stair window with lancet lights in a stone surround, featuring ball-flower stops to the dripmould, with raised eaves above.

The interior includes a marble-tiled entrance and a richly moulded Gothic stair balustrade.
