Description

Cock Gate Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with significant alterations in 1732 and later repairs in the mid-20th century. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill and extensions in painted rubble, covered by an artificial slate roof. A gable-end stack is located at the north end.

The south-west front is two storeys high and has a band running along the ground floor. There are two three-light casement windows to the left, over two boxed 16-pane sashes. The entrance is on the right, featuring a segmental corrugated iron canopy, a plain wooden architrave, and a ledged and boarded door. A datestone between the two ground floor windows is inscribed "Richard ) Green Margaret) 1732."

The timber framing on the first floor consists of two square panels in height. The gable-end truss has four struts to the collar and trenched purlins.
