Description

Vicarage Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with extensions from the 17th century, and some alterations made in the mid-19th century and repairs in the mid-20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with painted brick infill set on a coursed rubble plinth, topped with a slate roof. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with the 16th-century wing to the north and the 17th-century range to the east.

On the west wall of the north wing, there is a lateral stack made of rubble with dressed quoins and two brick shafts shaped like a six-point star. Another lateral stack is located on the north wall of the east wing. The south front of the farmhouse has two storeys and includes a gabled cross-wing on the left side. The window arrangement consists of one window plus two, with a top-hung casement on the left, followed by a 3-light casement and a 2-light casement. The ground floor features 3-light casements. The entrance to the east wing is to the left and has a 20th-century ledged and boarded door framed by a wooden architrave.

The framing of the cross-wing has four square panels high with curved angle braces, and the gable-end truss includes two struts supporting the collar. The other range has five rectangular panels high, with the east gable truss featuring two collars, multiple struts, and two curved struts at the apex. Inside, the farmhouse has exposed chamfered and stopped ceiling beams.
