Description

The property is a Tudor house, dating from the 17th century, with significant alterations and refacing in the early and late 18th century, and restoration work undertaken in the 1930s. It is timber-framed with rendered infill and brick cladding, set upon a plinth of coursed rubble, and has a tile roof. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with limbs extending to the west and south. A large stack is situated on the west wall of the south wing.

The east front has two storeys. A jettied and gabled cross-wing is positioned to the right, while the section to the left is brickwork of two distinct phases. The earlier brickwork incorporates a diaper pattern using blue headers and bands. There are three windows on the right side and one on the left, with two-light casements on the left and three-light casements on the right. A similar arrangement of windows is visible on the ground floor, with the three windows on the left set under segmental heads. A 20th-century ledged and boarded door is located centrally within the brickwork. The framing of the cross-wing features close-studded timbering with a mid-rail on the ground floor and a chamfered bressummer supporting the jetty. The first floor of the cross-wing has two square panels with herringbone framing creating a lozenge pattern. The tie-beam is slightly jettied with diagonal framing above, also forming lozenges. The side wall is divided into five square panels. A 17th-century boarded door with applied mouldings is found at the rear entrance.

Inside, the interior includes exposed chamfered ceiling beams, some with run-out stops. The brick wing has remaining timber framing visible within its construction.
