Description
Pound House is a house built in the early 17th century, with an extension added in the late 17th century and some alterations made in the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame with rendered infill, mostly roughcast, sitting on a coursed rubble plinth and topped with a slate roof. The main part of the house is aligned east to west, with a cross-wing at the east end that extends to the south. At the west end, there are two gabled ranges that extend to the north. There is a stack at the junction on the east side, and another stack at the west end of the main range has two brick shafts on a rubble base.
The north front of the house has two storeys and features a window arrangement of one plus one plus one, including a 16-pane boxed sash, a horizontally sliding sash, and a 2-light casement with a plank weathering. The ground floor has three 16-pane boxed sashes, while the gabled range to the right is blind. The entrance is located in the centre and has a semi-circular canopy with boarded side walls, leading to a door with six flush panels. The framing on the cross-wing to the left is exposed and consists of six square panels high, with the truss featuring two collars and nibbed curved struts in the apex.
