Description

Church House is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with some alterations made in the mid-18th century and restoration carried out in the 1980s. The building features a timber frame with painted brick and rendered infill, set on a coursed rubble plinth, and is topped with a roof made of tile, slate, and corrugated iron. It has an L-shaped plan, with a cross-wing to the south and another range to the east.

On the eastern side, there is a gable-end external chimney stack made of rubble, and an axial stack in the center of the cross-wing, which has a brick shaft shaped like a six-point star. The north front of the house is two storeys high and includes a gable-lit attic in the cross-wing on the right. The façade features two plus one windows, all of which are casements with two, four, and three lights. The ground floor has a three-light casement on the left with a plank weathering, and on the right, there is a 17th-century mullioned and transomed window with five lights and diamond section mullions.

The entrance, located to the right of center, has a 20th-century gabled and slated canopy above a ledged and boarded door. The framing of the building consists of four square panels high with straight angle braces. The gable-end truss has three struts to the collar and two vertical struts above. Inside, the property features exposed chamfered and stopped ceiling beams.
