Description
Bell House is a house dating from the 17th century, which was raised in the early 19th century and has undergone some repairs in the mid-20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with rendered and painted brick infill set on a coursed rubble plinth, topped by a slate roof. The house has three framed bays aligned north to south, with 19th-century extensions added to the rear (west) wall. An integral stack is located at the south gable, with a brick shaft.
The east front of the house is two storeys high and has three 2-light casement windows. The ground floor includes four windows: two 2-light casements with plank weatherings and two fixed windows. The central entrance is accessed by a double set of steps leading up to a shallow lean-to canopy that shelters a four-panel door. The framing consists of three square panels high, raised by an additional square panel. The north gable end features straight tension braces and straight angle braces, along with two struts supporting the collar above.
