Description

The Old Vicarage is a house dating from the 16th century, with some repairs made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. It features a timber-frame structure with rendered infill set on a rendered plinth beneath a tile roof. The building consists of three framed bays oriented northwest to southeast, with two single-bay wings projecting to the northeast. The main stack is located on the rear wall of the main range and is made of painted brick, while another stack of painted rubble with a painted brick shaft is positioned between the two wings.

The northeast front has two storeys, with the two gabled and jettied wings on the right. The main range on the left also has two storeys and includes a three-light casement window. A lean-to tiled canopy covers the entrance on the left side, with a three-light casement window to the right. Each of the gabled wings has two storeys and features a canted oriel window with a 16th-century moulded sill supported by a carved scroll bracket. On the ground floor, there is a canted bay window to the left and a two-light casement window to the right.

The framing of the main range consists of four square panels high with straight angle braces. The gable-end truss has three struts to the collar and V-struts at the apex. The projecting wings are supported by curved brackets at the jetty, with the gables above featuring carved angle braces and a single strut to the collar.
