Description

High Towers is a house dating to the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and late 20th century. It is a timber-frame structure with rendered infill panels and a tile roof. The house originally comprised two framed bays aligned north-west to south-east, and includes a lateral brick stack towards the south end of the north-east wall. The north-east front has two storeys plus an attic, with two casement windows in the gable. The first floor features a three-light casement to the left and a single-light casement to the right, both protected by plank weatherings. The ground floor includes a continuous, tiled, lean-to roof over a square bay to the left, as well as a recessed entrance with a half-glazed door, and an entrance hall to the left. The timber framing consists of five rectangular panels high, featuring various applied pieces of 17th-century carving. The gable-end truss is constructed with three struts to the collar and V-struts in the apex.
