Description
This is a barn located approximately 30 meters west of Middle Cwm Farmhouse. It dates from the 17th century and has undergone minor alterations in later periods, including the 20th century. Originally, the barn was timber-framed with sections of weatherboarding and woven infill. Some parts have been refaced or replaced with sandstone rubble, and the roof is a mix of stone slate and corrugated metal.
The barn has seven bays oriented north to south, facing east towards the foldyard, with the main threshing floor situated at the southern end. There are additional entrances on both the left and right sides. The east front features a four-light diamond mullioned window and a wooden framed doorway with a triangular head to the left of the threshing floor, along with a wider doorway to the right that has chamfered jambs and a segmental head. The structure includes inclined strut trusses without collars flanking the threshing floor, and former end trusses with three struts to the collar and V-struts above. Middle Cwm Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
