Description
This barn, located approximately 40 meters south-west of Wain Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century and has some minor later additions. It features a timber frame with a sandstone rubble plinth and a corrugated metal roof, with some remaining weatherboard cladding. The barn consists of four bays arranged in an east-west orientation, with a byre at the lower (eastern) end. There is a threshing floor entrance with a later projecting porch to the west of the center on the north front. The east gable end has three square-headed wooden framed doorways, although the central doorway is now blocked. The framing includes two and four square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, supported by inclined strut trusses.
