Description
The Mountain Centre, formerly known as The New Inn, is a building that dates back to the 18th century and has undergone alterations and extensions in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from rendered sandstone rubble and features a Welsh slate roof. The building is designed in an L-shape, facing west, although the rear is obscured by later additions. It has gable-end stacks and a central entrance leading to the main wing, which is aligned north to south.
The structure stands two storeys high, with attics and cellars. The west front includes two 20th-century gabled dormers with three-light casement windows, as well as three glazing bar sash windows. An open gabled porch leads to an inner ledged door. To the left of the upper floor window, there is a partially damaged stone plaque that bears the name "New Inn." Inside, the building has been altered but still features a late 18th-century or early 19th-century dog-leg staircase with turned balusters.
