Description
The Church of St Peter is a former parish church that has been converted into a house. It has a core dating from the 13th century and was largely restored in 1867. The building is constructed of sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. The nave includes a bell cote and a south porch, while the chancel is present as well.
On the nave, there are a pair of trefoil-headed lights on the left, another similar pair, and a further two-light window with a quatrefoil on the right side of the gabled south porch. The chancel has a wide lancet window in the south wall and a similar window in the north wall. The east window is possibly from the 14th century and features two trefoiled ogee lights and a quatrefoil.
Inside, there are traces of the earlier building, including a 12th-century scalloped capital that forms the base of a piscina in the chancel. The arch-braced chancel roof has the date 1640 inscribed on the north wall-plate.
