Description

Pontymoody is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with additions and alterations from the 18th and early 19th centuries. It is constructed from sandstone rubble and features a 20th-century slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan that is aligned north-east to south-west, with a later addition extending to the north-west at the south-west end, creating an L-shaped layout. There is also a lean-to addition on the south-east front to the right of the through-passage, which is backed by the main axial stack, and a secondary entry in the later addition.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with attics. The south-east front has three windows: two 2-light 20th-century casements and one 4-pane window on the ground floor. To the left of the lean-to porch, there is a 3-light ovolo-moulded wooden mullioned window and a similar 5-light mullioned and transomed window. The porch features an inner chamfered wooden framed doorway with a battened door, and there is a later lean-to to the right. Traces of further mullioned windows can be seen on the north-west front.

Inside, there is a stone winder staircase that is integral with the stack and has wooden treads. The main room includes a plank-and-muntin panelled partition with a segmental-headed doorway and a battened door.
