Description
The barn at Cwm Farm is a stone structure dating from the 18th century, topped with a corrugated roof. It features a central doorway facing the yard, which has boarded doors. To the left of this doorway is another door leading to a stable or cowhouse, and to its right is a mullioned window with a slit vent above it. There is also a slit vent to the right of the main doorway. The left gable end, which faces the lane, includes a window and two slit vents above, as well as a blocked doorway to the left. The right gable end has two slit vents. At the rear of the barn, there are opposed large doorways, slit vents, and a blocked window leading to the stable or cowhouse.
Inside, the barn has a roof with five bays. The inner trusses above the threshing floor feature tie beams and raking struts, while the outer trusses have tie beams and collars connected with mortise-and-tenon joints. There are three tiers of trenched purlins. The lower level includes an end bay that serves as a lofted cowhouse or stable, complete with a cobbled floor that has a drain. There is a partition separating this end bay from the stable, which has a blocked window and doorway.
