Description

The barn range at Cwmwr-uchaf is a Grade II listed structure made of grey stone, featuring some timber framing and brick dressings, topped with a slate roof. The north side has four rooflights, while the south side has five. The central section facing the track is timber-framed and covered with corrugated iron. On the right, there is a door and a window with cambered brick heads, and on the left, there are two small windows. The building has lower extensions on both the left and right sides.

On the south side, the barn is two-storeyed. To the left, the roof slopes down over a cowhouse, which has two camber-headed doorways with slits between them, along with two additional doors and two windows. There is a blocked opening on the right return. Set back to the right is a door and a small window, with another small window in the right return of the barn. Further to the right, there is a lower cartshed with a timber-fronted upper floor that includes a window and a door, and an open ground floor. Adjacent to this is a lean-to open shed with a corrugated roof.

Inside, the barn features a roof supported by tie-beams and tension braces, with staggered purlins. The roof slope continues to the rear as a catslide, using timbers of smaller scantling. The front and rear have square framing, although some panels are missing.
