Description

Cwmwr-uchaf is a 17th-century farmhouse built of painted stone with heavy boulder foundations and a slate roof, featuring stone end chimneys. The building has two storeys and three windows, with three metal casements on the first floor set at the eaves. The roughly central doorway is framed with heavy wood and has chamfers, a gabled hood, and a wide boarded door. On either side of the door are broad three-light casement windows without glazing bars, and between the door and the left window is a smaller window with eight-pane fixed small-pane glazing. To the extreme left is a small fireplace window. The left gable end has a corrugated iron lean-to and a small first-floor window, along with a stone stack. The right gable end features a large projecting chimney and a small window to the left on the front. At the rear, there is an outshut, with a roughly central doorway on the ground floor and a window on each side.

Although not re-inspected during the resurvey, the interior includes a wooden stair with shaped splat balusters in the hallway. There is one room on each side of the hallway, both with stone flag floors, heavy chamfered beams and joists, and large fireplaces. A timber-framed wall separates the main rooms from the outshut, consisting of large square panels, along with similar timber-framed partitions.
