The Forge, Including Adjoining Former Forge

The Forge, including the adjoining former forge, is a 17th-century house with late 19th-century additions. It is timber-framed with wattle-and-daub infill and features a 20th-century asbestos roof and a sandstone plinth. The building consists of two framed bays oriented east to west, with gable end stacks and a rear lean-to. The entrance is through the lean-to, and the former forge is attached to the west. The structure is single storey with an attic and cellar, featuring two 2-light casement windows and central steps leading down to the cellar doorway. The attic is lit by a gable window. The framing is largely intact, with three square panels extending from the sill to the wall-plate and V-struts in the gable. The adjoining outbuilding still contains the former furnace and bellows.
