Description

Wilcroft Cottage is a 17th-century house with 20th-century alterations. It is timber-framed, with a sandstone plinth, rendered and painted brick infill, and a thatched roof. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with the main range running north/south and an east/west cross-wing attached to the north end. A gable-end stack is present on the south gable, and another lateral stack on the cross-wing. The east front is single-storey with an attic, featuring a 2-light casement window in an eyebrow dormer and a 3-light window on the ground floor. A similar 3-light casement window is found in the gable end of the cross-wing to the right. The entrance is located on the south gable end, accessed via a 20th-century lean-to porch, and a ledged door. The timber framing remains largely complete, exhibiting three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate.
