Description

Bartestree Court is a 17th-century farmhouse with alterations and additions from the mid-19th century. It is timber-framed with painted brick infill, a sandstone plinth, and some mid-19th century brick remodelling. The building has mainly brick stacks, including one lateral sandstone stack to the former north wing. The original L-shaped layout has been obscured by later remodelling, and the building now primarily faces north/south, with its long axis running east/west.

The east front features a projecting central two-story section, divided into three gabled sections. The right-hand gable represents the end of a former cross-wing of the original L-shaped house. This section has three three-light casement windows. A central gabled porch with a half-glazed door features prominently. The main block is flanked by single-story ranges with attics, each with a gabled half-dormer containing a matching three-light window.

The timber framing is largely visible in the gable end and north side of the north wing, and on the west front. Originally, the framing consisted of four square panels from the sill to the wall-plate.
