Description
Black and White Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century, with 20th-century alterations and extensions. It features a timber-framed structure with rendered infill, a 20th-century brick plinth, and a sandstone base for the stack, while the remainder of the building is brick with a tiled roof. The house has two framed bays that are aligned east to west and face south, with an east gable-end stack. The entrance is located through a 20th-century addition on the west gable end. The cottage is single storey with an attic, and the south front has two gabled dormers, each containing 2-light casement windows. There is one similar window to the left and two to the right on the ground floor. The framing of the cottage appears largely complete, although some parts have been renewed. It features three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with angle bracing from the main post to the wall-plate and V-struts in the gable.
