Description

The New Inn is an inn dating from the mid- to late 19th century, built in a Gothic style. It is constructed of brick with polychrome brickwork, tiled and ashlar dressings, and slate roofs. The building has two rooms in depth, a central entrance, and end stacks.

The south front features a gabled projection to the left of a central turret, and a recessed gable to the right with a projecting ground floor. Decorative bands of tiling are present, along with polychrome brickwork with pointed arched heads to the windows, featuring foliated capitals to the responds. A window of three lights is visible on the left gable end, with the central light being taller than the flanking lights. The turret is situated in an angle and has a shaped slate roof. Elaborate interlacing tracery is incorporated into the oriel window above the doorway, with three lights. The right gable end has three lights and a projecting bay to the ground floor with similar lights. Decorative carvings of fantasy animals and birds adorn the angles of the gables.
