Description
The Former Rossendale Guesthouse is an 18th-century house that now operates as a guest house. It features painted brick construction and a Welsh slate roof with a steeper pitch at the rear, along with brick end stacks. The building stands three storeys high, with an attic and cellar, and has a five-window range. The windows include 9/9 sashes with cambered heads set in moulded cases, all under gauged brick segmental arches, as well as three 3/6 sashes (with a 20th-century window in the center) also under segmental arches.
The central entrance has a 20th-century half-glazed four-panel door within a moulded frame, topped by a moulded wood hood supported by scrolled consoles. This entrance is flanked by late 19th-century canted bays featuring 2/2 sashes beneath moulded stone cornices. To the left of the entrance, there is a studded and battened plank door with a cambered head, mounted on strap hinges, also in a moulded case under a gauged brick segmental arch. The left side of the building has a 3/6 sash window above a 9/9 sash window, both under a segmental arch. The rear of the building is roughcast and includes a gable dormer, along with various lights and sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
