Description
31 Broad Street is a late 18th-century house located in Ludlow. It is constructed of brick with a Welsh slate roof and features brick end stacks, which were added in the 20th century on the left side. The building has three storeys, a cellar, and an attic, with a five-window range. The windows on the lower floor are 6/6 sashes set in rendered reveals beneath gauged brick segmental arches, and there is a storey band present. The upper floor has 3/6 sashes under 20th-century segmental arches, with restored brickwork above, a painted band, and a coped parapet. A gable dormer is also present.
Access to the house is via central stone steps with handrails leading to a six-panel door and fanlight, which is set in a panelled case beneath a stone flat hood and a decorated frieze supported by fluted pilasters. The door is flanked by pairs of 6/6 sash windows. On the right side of the building, there are two 19th-century 2/2 sashes in the attic.
