Description
This is a late 19th-century house built on an earlier 17th-century core, located on Broad Street, Ludlow. The front of the property was substantially altered in the late 19th century, while retaining an older core. It is constructed of roughcast brick, timber frame and has a plain tile roof with two gables facing the street. Two brick stacks are located at the rear of the building. The house is two storeys high with a cellar, and has a two-window front. It features plain sash windows within moulded architraves, with corbelled sills. The left gable is jettied and displays large purlins. The front entrance is within a narrow recessed bay and features a part-glazed panelled door, topped by a moulded hood supported by fluted consoles and moulded pillasters. A canted bay is situated to the right, with plain sash windows; to the left are two plain sash windows matching those above. A gable wing on the right side has a smaller plain sash window, and a plate glass window within a moulded architrave is located below. The left elevation showcases box framing over a rubble ground floor, with a further range of brick quoined rubble. A 6/6 sash window and moulded architrave have been added in the 20th century. The interior retains significant exposed timber framing, along with 17th- and 18th-century panelling.
