Description
These are two houses on Broad Street, Leominster. The front of the building dates from the 18th century, but a core structure originates from the 17th century. The front is constructed of painted brick, topped with a steeply pitched roof covered in old plain tiles. A brick chimney stack is located at the rear.
The houses are three storeys high, with a cellar, and have a four-window facade. The late 19th century features include 8/8 sash windows in moulded surrounds, each topped with a segmental arch. Above these are three late 19th century 3/3 sash windows. A horizontal band runs across the front. To the right is a 19th-century shop front with a half-glazed, panelled door and overlight to the left. A window with moulded glazing bars is present, along with a moulded fascia board and hood supported by pilasters. There is also a 19th-century plank door in a moulded frame, topped with a segmental arch. To the left of this is a 20th-century casement window in an altered opening, set beneath two segmental arches.
A passage to the rear reveals exposed timber framing, likely dating from the 17th century or earlier. At the rear there is a wing with timber framing and plaster gables over roughcast rendering. Another wing features a brick corner stack, a gable with a lattice frame and tumbled-in brick infill, a 20th-century window, and a two-light casement. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
