Description
No. 45 Broad Street, formerly known as The Britannia Inn, is an 18th-century house located in Leominster. The building features stucco on the ground floor and roughcast above, topped with a steep-pitched Welsh slate roof. It has three storeys and a three-window range, with 6/6 sash windows in broad cases and lined reveals on the first and second floors. A parapet and a gable-dormer add to its character.
The entrance is located to the left and consists of half-glazed panelled double doors with elliptical heads set in a beaded frame. To the right of the entrance are two additional 6/6 sashes in broad cases. The right side of the building has a tier of blocked openings under segmental arches, above margin-glazed double doors and a fanlight, all sheltered by a flat hood supported by panelled pilasters.
At the rear, there is a wing that includes an early 18th-century 6/6 sash window and a 19th-century mullion and transom window in moulded cases. Above this, there are early 18th-century 6/6 sashes, and to the right, a 20th-century entrance leads to a mullion and transom window with leaded clerestory lights. A 19th-century 6/6 sash window in a moulded case and three continuous storey bands complete the design. The interior has not been inspected.
