Description
Kenwater House is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It dates from the 18th century and features roughcast walls and a hipped Welsh slate roof, with two brick stacks located at the right rear. The building has an L-shaped plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a five-window range. The windows include late 19th-century 6/6 sashes on the right and 18th-century sashes on the left, all set in broad, moulded cases, along with a blind opening. The eaves are deep, moulded, and modillioned, and there are three roof dormers featuring 19th-century two-light casements with enriched architraves beneath hipped roofs.
The entrance is located to the centre right and consists of a part-glazed six-panel door within a moulded case, topped with a fanlight and sheltered by a coved, moulded semicircular hood supported by scrolled brackets. This entrance is flanked by 6/6 sashes in broad, moulded cases. To the left of the entrance, there is a passage leading to the rear, which has six-panel double doors beneath moulded lintels. The building also features a storey band and moulded quoins.
On the right side of the building, there is a central blind opening with pairs of 20th-century sashes in broad beaded cases on both the ground and first floors, along with a returned band and eaves detail. The rear wing is rendered and has a slate roof with a brick stack, featuring various sashes, lights, and casements, as well as a storey band and a roof dormer. The interior has not been inspected.
