Description
Wren Cottage and Lynwood are two houses dating from the 17th century, with an extension from the early 18th century and some late 19th-century alterations. The buildings are timber-framed with painted brick and rendered infill, set on a coursed rubble plinth and topped with a slate roof. They consist of two framed bays oriented north-west to south-east, with an additional bay extending to the north. There is an external rubble stack with a square brick shaft on the northern gable end.
The street-facing side is two storeys high and features three casement windows with two, four, and three lights. On the ground floor, there are two oriel windows, along with a casement window to the right. Each entrance is flanked by similar 19th-century half-glazed porches with pantile roofs. The sides of the building incorporate 17th-century turned balusters. The framing of the earlier part of the house consists of three square panels high, while the later part has four square panels, with a gable-end truss that includes three struts to the collar and V-struts in the apex.
