Description

Rippon Cottage and Lyn Cottage are two dwellings that were likely built in the late 17th century. They feature a stone plinth, and the walls are said to be constructed from cobb, now rendered. The roof is a 20th-century reproduction slate. The building has a large central brick chimney stack and a smaller stack to the right. It is two storeys high with an attic and consists of five bays.

The entrance to Rippon Cottage is located in the second bay from the right and includes a 20th-century gabled timber porch and a modern door with a wooden lintel. On either side of this entrance are three-light casement windows with wooden lintels. In the third bay from the left, there is a similar window, while the left bay features a two-light casement window with a wooden lintel and a one-light window in the second bay from the left. The first floor has two-light casement windows with wooden lintels in the left and right bays, as well as in the second bay from the left. The third bay from the right has a similar three-light window, and there is a 20th-century one-light window with a rendered surround in the second bay from the right. The attic includes four skylights.

There is a 20th-century doorway leading to Lyn Cottage on the left side, and the left gable end is weather-boarded. Inside Rippon Cottage, there is a set of chamfered beams in the ground floor room, while the interior of Lyn Cottage has not been inspected.
