Description
Maltmill Cottage is a cottage dating from the 17th to 18th century, believed to be constructed of cob, now rendered, with an artificial stone slate roof and a large central brick stack. The building has two storeys and two bays. The doorway in the right bay features a wooden lintel and a 20th-century door. To the left of the doorway is a small 20th-century one-light casement window with a wooden lintel. In the left bay and the second bay from the left, there are three-light casement windows with old wooden lintels. A half dormer with a two-light wooden casement window is located in the left bay, while a dormer with a similar casement is found to the right. Inside, the ground-floor rooms have chamfered spine beams and plain joists. There is an open fireplace with a 19th-century wooden mantelshelf supported by brackets. The first floor reveals three tie beams and the main rafters of the original roof structure, along with old stud partitions.
