Description
The White House is a house that was originally two separate houses, built in the 17th and early 18th centuries, and converted into one dwelling around 1920. The exterior features pebbledash walls, painted brick on the left side, and an asbestos tile roof with brick chimney stacks. The left section, dating from the early 18th century, is two storeys high with an attic and has two bays. It has windows with painted stone lintels and keyblocks on both floors, all fitted with 20th-century casements, along with 20th-century dormers. The steeply pitched roof has coped gables and flanking stacks. The right section, likely from the 17th century, is also two storeys tall with two gabled bays. Its ground floor windows have wooden lintels and 20th-century sash windows, while the first-floor windows have wooden lintels and 20th-century casements. There is a 20th-century two-storey timber porch on the right side, leading to a doorway with a pebbledash surround and a plank door. The rear has 20th-century extensions. Inside, the house has been remodelled in the 20th century, featuring a chamfered spine beam in the ground floor room of the left-hand section. The building is included for its group value.
