Description
The Homestead is a 17th-century house located on Kilsby Independent Street. It is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and features a corrugated iron roof with brick stacks. The building has a lobby-entry plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with four bays. The doorway, located in the third bay from the left, has a moulded wood frame and a six-panel door. To the right of the doorway, there are two three-light stone-mullioned windows with moulded surrounds. On the left, there are two three-light casement windows with wood lintels, and a two-light casement window with a wood lintel in the left bay on the first floor. There are three two-light stone-mullioned windows to the right. The gable ends are coped, and there is a central stack along with a stack on the right gable. Inside, the ground-floor rooms feature a set of chamfered beams, and there is an open fireplace with a bread oven.
